Your Environment

Do you spend time with people who write books? A group of allies --who know the kind of challenges you're working through--can make a huge difference in what you accomplish and how you feel while doing it. Author Club has that, plus accountability guided by an expert editor and publisher. We will help you settle into a writing life you can enjoy and in which you can take pride.

One...or both?

Coaching will help you move fast, but being a part of the club adds something hard to define. As people spend time in the group it becomes a highlight of their weekend. Why else would people join even when they're on vacation in Italy, Switzerland, Brazil...or on the bus home from boxing class?

Your Pace

Will you do best with lots of structure and a fast pace? Or are you already behind on an important deadline? Coaching will be the fastest way to get on the path to reach your goals.

"Author Club has given me a sense of community and increased my pace and confidence. I am a first time author. The practical tools and accountability through community have helped me write faster and more confidently. I have made much more progress on my book since joining."

Hello, my name is Robin

I want this world to be a sustainable, fair, and kind place. I've been fortunate to work with some of the world’s best thinkers and brightest leaders to define, refine, and communicate their ideas, visions, and strategies, mostly around projects that make me feel like I'm pulling in that direction.

By day I am a Senior Acquisitions Editor at Johns Hopkins University Press, where I am growing the world's best list in public health and health policy books. This site started with a newsletter that I created with the goal of simply helping my authors write better and navigate the publishing process more successfully. As the readership increased it became clear that I had an opportunity to help more people write more books, better.

My methods are not hard to understand, but if you haven't spent the past couple of decades working with a diverse set of writers, you probably haven't had the chance to stumble onto them or to figure out for yourself how they fit together. The simple systems I use for communicating complex ideas effectively have been used by scholars, business leaders, activists, and bestselling authors.

I take immense pride in the knowledge that my authors are using their books to change the world for the better. The name for the site came from a very simple idea: you're already an expert in your own area; I want you to build the skills to write like an expert, too.

Still not sure?

Check out an upcoming Introduction to Academic Book Publishing for Authors info session. It's not a sales pitch disguised as a webinar--I'll be there with no script and a loose agenda so I can answer your questions. (By the end you're going to want to join, but that's NOT MY FAULT.)
